PDO Threads
They lift, tighten, and strengthen the skin. They improve skin firmness and elasticity, stimulate collagen and natural hyaluronic acid production, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
A PDO thread is a synthetic fiber made from polydioxanone. It has been used in aesthetic medicine since the 1980s and was first introduced in Korea. Once inserted under the skin, the threads initially form a supportive mesh, then stimulate the skin to produce collagen and elastin.
Why is it worth it?
Lifting threads mechanically lift the tissue—when used to raise sagging cheeks, they enhance and rejuvenate the facial contour. They also reduce nasolabial folds and eliminate so-called “marionette lines” (folds running from the corners of the mouth down to the chin). The result is a refreshed, more youthful-looking face.
What does the treatment look like?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The threads are inserted into the subcutaneous tissue using sterile needles. After placing the threads, the needles are removed, leaving the threads in the tissue. Only small puncture marks remain visible post-treatment. Initially, the threads form a supportive structure under the skin, and over time, they stimulate collagen and elastin production.
