Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are actually a form of atrophic scarring. They occur when the skin can’t keep up with rapid body growth—such as during quick weight gain, puberty, or pregnancy. Most often, they appear on the abdomen, thighs, lower back, and sides, but in cases of rapid growth or weight increase, they can also affect other areas of the body.
Stretch marks form in the dermis and are associated with impaired fibroblast function—these are the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. These two proteins give the skin its elasticity, firmness, bounce, and proper tone.At POWAB, we offer several treatments to make stretch marks shallower and less visible—leaving the skin smoother, more even, and firmer. Each method is tailored to the client’s specific needs.
